DataPath® Becomes Leading Provider of Satellite Communications Field Services to U.S. Army

$363M Contract Supports All Four Branches of U.S. Military

ATLANTA – Dec. 20, 2016 – DataPath, Inc., a leading provider of remote field communications and information technology solutions to the aerospace, government, broadcast, and infrastructure markets, announced today the company has been selected as the sole prime provider of satellite communications support services under the U.S. Army’s Global Tactical Advanced Communication Systems (GTACS) contract. The award combines field support service needs previously addressed by multiple contract vehicles into a single program, along with new and emerging requirements. The total value of the four-and-a-half-year contract is estimated at $363 million.

Through this single largest task order on the GTACS contract, DataPath will provide expert field support services for tactical satellite systems deployed globally by the U.S. military. DataPath is a provider of every class of satellite system procured under the GTACS contract including man-pack terminals, fly-away antennas, trailer-based terminals, mobile earth terminal vehicles, and large-scale earth terminals. That means the DataPath team has the expertise to install, maintain and repair all the equipment deployed in the Army’s Warfighter Information Network – Tactical (WIN-T).

Though DataPath has been providing the U.S. Army with field services and satellite equipment for two decades, the new award significantly expands the company’s support. DataPath will now oversee the deployment of more than 200 field services personnel across 20 countries and serve as the single entity responsible for end-user customer service experience.

Over the past two years, DataPath has invested in optimizing its field service business. Strategic moves included forming a dedicated DataPath Services Division, streamlining the organization to better support field services, and opening a new field services office at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland. These moves enable DataPath’s field services team to rapidly deploy, be cost-effective, and provide local customer service to the U.S. Army. For customers, these changes are expected to result in minimal downtime, best value for budget, and consultative customer support.

“With all the threats facing our nation’s military today, reliable communications are more important than ever. We understand that keeping the military’s critical communications systems online, connecting service men and women in the field to headquarters, is fundamental to safety and mission success,” said David Myers, President and CEO of DataPath. “DataPath is proud to support that mission and sees itself as an extension of the WIN-T program, focused on providing unwavering customer service.”
