Army Selects DataPath for Communications Links Between U.S. Military and Civil Response Agencies

Duluth, GA — February 25, 2019 — DataPath, Inc., a leading provider of advanced and secure communications solutions, announced today it was awarded a prime contract from the U.S. Army to provide communications services in support of Homeland Defense and Defense Support of Civil Authorities.

Under terms of the contract, DataPath will supply satellite communications hardware, software and systems installation and maintenance services to support communications interoperability between a variety of military and civil response organizations.

The program supports the United States Northern Command (USNORTHCOM) Deployable Communications Capabilities Systems (DCCS), including North American Aerospace Defense (NORAD), USNORTHCOM Subordinate and Component Commands, mission partners, and Army North (ARNORTH). USNORTHCOM Theater of Operations commands and controls the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps forces in the North American continent.

In making the announcement, DataPath’s Chief Executive Officer, Sherin Kamal, said, “Communications interoperability between military and civil response units is critical to mission success. Since Homeland Defense and Defense Support of Civil Authorities events cannot be pre-identified by location, all of these communications capabilities are commercial satellite link capable and connected. In addition to Homeland Defense, the USNORTHCOM mission includes the DSCA response for other disasters, such as hurricanes, floods, and wildfires.”

Kamal added, “DataPath is partnering with SAIC to provide these critical services. We are proud to bring such a high caliber team to the US Army and look forward to further collaboration with our SAIC partners.”
Program communications platforms include vehicular and transit-cased systems. Within DataPath’s project umbrella are such service areas as system lifecycle support, project management, capability design, system modifications, technical refreshment, equipment training, technical support, service desk, equipment repair, spare parts management and reporting.

“The U.S. Army has charged DataPath to create and maintain the vital connection between the Department of Defense and civil response units for Homeland Defense and disaster relief operations,” Kamal said. “DataPath is proud to play a leading role in this effort to help secure our nation’s safety.”
