DataPath® Brand Returns to Satellite Communications Industry

Re-emerging at IBC 2014 Tradeshow in Amsterdam, as a Private Company

(Atlanta, Georgia and Stockholm, Sweden) September 12, 2014 – DataPath, Inc. a leading provider of remote communications solutions to the government, broadcast, and industrial operations markets announced today that is re-launching a brand long-known to the satellite industry.  Previously known as Rockwell Collins Satellite Communications Systems, the company was recently acquired by an Atlanta-based private investment group.  Renamed DataPath Inc., the company brings back a brand known for quality and innovation in military and commercial satellite communications.  The revitalized brand is debuting this week at the IBC tradeshow in Amsterdam and can be seen at stand 1.A11.

DataPath specializes in designing, manufacturing and supporting both custom and commercial-off-the-shelf field communications and information technology solutions.  A wide range of applications are supported from command and control, to surveillance, to high-definition voice and video.  The company’s portfolio includes the SWE-DISH™ line of advanced mobile antenna systems, custom systems integration, and the MaxView® remote network management software suite, as well as a global field services organization.

Founded in 1996, the company grew to prominence as one of the industry’s largest providers, with nearly 2,000 remote SATCOM terminals deployed around the world.  Terminals range in size from small man-packable units to vehicle mounted “drive-away” systems to complete transportable teleports with antennas up to 6.7M in diameter and fixed earth stations up to 16M.

Rockwell Collins acquired DataPath in 2009, to form its Satellite Communications Systems Division.  As part of a strategic realignment, Rockwell Collins sold the company to a private investment group in July 2014.  The group includes many of the original investors and even one of the co-founders of the company, prompting the return of the DataPath brand.

“We are excited to bring back a brand known for engineering innovation and impeccable quality.” said President and CEO, David Myers.  “At DataPath, we are passionate about supporting our client missions with quick-to-deploy and easy-to-use communications.  We are investing in new products that extend beyond traditional satellite and include multimodal fixed wireless and terrestrial networks.  Our clients benefit from our global scalability as well as a relentless focus on flexibility and customer service.”

DataPath will be located at booth 614 during the Javits Convention Center SATCON event on November 12-13, 2014.
